Mere hours left!

With only a few hours left until the start of my first ever art-centric, multi-day festival, I find myself up at an ungodly hour with an inability to sleep! Trust me, I've tried to get back to sleep but it's not working. My mind is already going. So as you read these words, understand that I think I'm up earlier than most farmers! Yikes!

We arrived yesterday in Dahlonega for vendor check in and also to set up my tent structure and have it enclosed for the overnight hours.

This morning we will be arriving a few hours earlier than the start of the festival to set up my artwork on the tent walls: gallery style. Also, we'll be setting up my table of art prints on a nice area rug since we're situated on pavement. And when I say, "we" I mean my sister-in-law and I. She's been so very gracious to join me all weekend to assist. Without her, I don't know how I'd be able to do this on my own!

The unsightly view of vehicle oil stains in the parking space I'll be occupying make me think that buying the area rug was a good idea- especially for a "fine art" tent. Thankfully, the weather seems like it will cooperate. As of this morning, though there is now a 25% chance of a thunderstorm sometime tomorrow. My hope is it'll be after we wrap up.

My small little booth is surrounded by experienced jewelry, pottery and woodworking vendors with dynamic tent layouts. And from what I can tell of those vendors, they're either the same age as I am or older and hauling way more stuff than me in vehicles made for this type of event. I feel suddenly so very small and foolish for complaining about my scoliosis-riddled back and my body being broken and I'm not even into Day 1 just yet! Suck it up MidLifeArtist! If they can do it, so can you!

In any case, if you haven't been following along in my lead up to this event and you find yourself in the north Georgia area near Dahlonega- come on out and say hello! I'll be in booth number 10- sandwiched between the Gold Museum and the Dahlonega General Store.

I'd be grateful for friendly, smiling faces who- by virtue of their visit are an encouragement in this first event for me.

I hope and pray that I can be as energetic, agile and successful as those vendor neighbors around me! Dahlonega has an amazing downtown- great for putzing. I hope to enjoy every minute of my time here!

Signing off at just before 5am,

Stephanie
