This painting was created on short notice for the Blue Ribbon contest at the Cohutta Celebrates the 250th event. The theme was to represent America — landmarks, landscapes, the flag, and what makes our country unique.
I chose a warm, folksy style to celebrate “Flyover Country” — that great heartland between the coastlines. A classic red barn, waving American flag, families enjoying a sunny day with picnic tables and laughter, rolling hills in the distance… it’s a joyful, nostalgic snapshot of everyday American life that many of us hold dear.
