Inspired by my dad’s decades-old love for a college veggie drawing of mine he had framed, and by the standing joke in our house: “Never leave husbands unattended.”
My own husband graciously agreed to pose as the panicked chef trying to keep an impossible tower of vegetables—and one very hot cup of coffee—from crashing down. Painted in dramatic Caravaggio chiaroscuro, because even foolhardiness deserves beautiful lighting.
The original is gone, but the signed prints keep the laughter going. Every print is personally hand-signed by the artist on the white border.

The Story Behind Left Unattended
My dad never forgot a college veggie drawing I did twenty-five years ago—he had it matted and framed and told me to paint it again someday.
Years later, I finally did—just bigger (24×36"), in oil, and with a twist.
I added a teetering cup of coffee and convinced my husband to pose as the chef who’s about to learn why wives don’t leave husbands “unattended.”
Painted in full Caravaggio drama because even kitchen disasters deserve beautiful light.
