This painting is the official cover art for my sister-in-law L.M. Stephenson’s novel Resilient. It is our second collaboration (the first being the watercolor Glass Lake for her short story of the same name).
 
The image depicts two sisters, Selene and Kiera, standing back-to-back in a dramatic urban alley at twilight. Their contrasting expressions, clothing, and stances powerfully convey the tension and strength present in the story.
 
Painted in rich, dramatic oils with strong chiaroscuro lighting, the piece captures both the intensity and the emotional depth of these two characters. The fiery sunset sky and glowing streetlamps add to the cinematic atmosphere of the scene.
