My first fully tactile painting: thick modeling, crackle, and fiber pastes under layers of acrylic, then gold and copper leaf applied to the swirling portal shapes that threaten to tear open the canvas itself.
Two barely-explored frontiers — the crushing deep ocean and the infinite void of space — collide in a surreal, shimmering moment. This is the piece that taught me how far texture and metallic leaf can take a painting.
